WHO: Rik Campbell
WHAT: Co-founder and co-owner of Kricket

“What I’ve learnt about starting my own company is that the harder you work, the more you get out of it.” Rik Campbell

For HKT’s newest collection, we’re spotlighting a curated selection of London’s most unique and creative entrepreneurs. These are the men of tomorrow who are leading their generation through change and innovation. Next in the series is Rik Campbell, co-founder and co-owner of Kricket.

THE IDEA

After leaving a fast-paced and hectic job in corporate finance, Rik decided that it was time to take his career down a totally new path, setting his sights on the world of food and hospitality. He teamed up with his friend and chef, Will Bowlby, and the two launched Kricket – which focuses on Indian-inspired dishes – in 2015. Now, the pair have three beautiful restaurants in London, with plans to open a site abroad in the near future.

“What keeps me going everyday is good energy, good staff and a great product.”

THE COMPANY

Kricket began in a shipping container in London in 2015 as a semi-permanent pop up and has since grown into 3 restaurants with about 70 members of staff collectively. The food, which is focussed on small plates of Southern Indian-inspired dishes, is created with mostly British produce to elevate the taste. Interiors and design are hugely important too, and the atmosphere of the restaurants are continuously praised for their part in keeping customers returning time after time.

“I’d tell anyone looking to start their own business to never ask anyone to do anything that you wouldn’t do yourself.”

RIK'S STYLE

Rik’s style is refined but understated, and you’ll likely see him in jeans, a T-shirt, a round neck jumper and some kind of throw-on jacket. He splits his time between working at his desk and service in the restaurant, so comfort is always key.
